Adobe has released a new labs feature for its Flash Professional program called Wallaby, which helps convert FLA artwork and animation into HTML5. The converted HTML can be then edited just like any other HTML in a text editor or even Dreamweaver.
This feature is very useful for converting simpler Flash Animations in an easy manner to enable the functionality from the browsers without any need of a plugin.
The primary target for need of such a tool would be Apple’s iOS devices, which refuse to support Flash. The tool is an experimental feature, hence cannot be expected to convert all FLA files into HTML5. Also, the output HTML is a bit complicated at best. However, it is definitely a good start.
You can find more about Wallaby here.
In the video demonstration below, we can see a quick walk-through of how a simple Flash Animation can be converted into HTML5 Animation. Hope Adobe is able to turn this little tool into a great product in the future.
